So how on earth do we submit these No Purchase Necessary (NPN) in order to have a chance to get a free card? Below is a step by step guide to do this.
Before we do this, let’s examine the key points of the NPN offer presented on the pack or the box.
- Odds: These are the odds of getting a particular type of card that is not a base card. If you read the NPN description, it says “a chance to obtain any of the cards listed above”. So by submitting the NPN, you have a “chance” to get a card within the odds.
- Materials: You will need to purchase some 3 x 5 cards (index cards) and #10 envelopes (which is a standard envelope that you would normally get when you receive your bills/monthly statements). You can pick these up at your local department store or Amazon.
- NPN Name and Address: This is the NPN Name/Address you will be including on your #10 envelope. Majority of the time the NPN Name will change, but the address will not (based on the same company, i.e. Topps). Also note that in my picture, i forgot to highlight the “NPN” before “2019 Topps…” So in the example above, the address that you would write on your #10 envelope is:
NPN 2019 Topps Chrome BB – NPN Group 16
P.O. Box 5013
Scranton, PA 18505For my friends that are sending in from Canada, please make sure you add “USA” to the address.
- Postmarked Date: When you mail out your letter, you need to make sure the post office marks your envelope as received before or on this date. If not, your submission will be disqualified.
- Received Date: This is the date where the company offering the NPN needs to receive your submission by. So going back to the postmarked date, you technically could postmark your envelope on the date of, but send it in on a different date. If the company doesn’t receive your submission by this date, you will be disqualified.
- Drawing Date: This appears to be the date when they pick the winners.
- Skill-Testing Question: If your address on the 3 x 5 card is in Canada, you will need to answer the skill-testing question and submit the answer with your submission. Put your answer on the same 3 x 5 card with your name and address.
Now that you are more familiar with the key points on the NPN Offer, it is time to do the actual submission. So first off you need to get the proper materials. You will need 3 x 5 cards (index cards), #10 envelopes, a pen, and a stamp. These can all be easily purchased at Walmart, Target, or online stores such as Amazon. Shop around for some deals, especially if you intend to join a lot of NPN Groups. You will probably want to buy these in bulk.
So for Topps / Panini NPN Submissions, you will need to print your full name, mailing address, and if your mailing address is in Canada, you will need to include the answer to the skill-testing question. One recommendation that I have is to print your information in “CAPITAL LETTERS”. This way, it reduces the confusion when the other side is trying to read what you are writing. I would also try to write your info in a decent size so that it is easily readable as well. My motto is to make things easier for the other side.
A side not for Topps / Panini submissions that allow more than one entry per household (usually non baseball products for Topps and almost all Panini products). If you are to submit more than one entry, you will need to submit each entry separately. So if you want to submit twice, you will need to write on two 3 x 5 cards and put each card in separate envelopes (in this case two envelopes).
Next, we need to put the information onto the #10 envelope. I recommend that you try to write the NPN Group Name closer to the left of the envelope because it could be really, really long. Also, don’t forget to add a return address on the top left of the envelope. This is more of a formality when it comes to mailing envelopes, but not necessary since I don’t think you will miss anything if the post office were to misplace your mail and try to send this back to you. Once again, Canadian submitters should include “USA” below the “[City], [State] [Zip Code]” since you are sending it outside of Canada. Finally, make sure you get a stamp to cover the cost of sending this submission. It will cost $0.55 USD for American submitters, $1.27 CDN for Canadian submitters (Please correct me if this is not correct for US prices, since I’m from Canada.)
So now we just need to put our 3 x 5 card into our envelope, seal the envelope and place it into your mailbox. Once this is all done, let the waiting game begin… I would probably just send it and forget it until you get a nice surprise in your mailbox.
My final recommendation would be to keep track of all your submissions in a spreadsheet. This way you don’t accidentally send in more than 1 submission to the same NPN Group, which would disqualify you from winning any prize.
